Where theory meets practice for class representatives
in group legal actions in the UK.

The Class Representatives Network provides support to class representatives who are leading group legal actions in the UK.

What are collective proceedings?

Collective proceedings are a type of court or tribunal procedure which enables claims to be brought on behalf of numerous people. They facilitate legal redress for consumers who would otherwise be unable to bring claims individually.

Class representatives are vital to ensuring that consumers’ interests are properly represented in class actions.

We support class representatives to take independent decisions in the best interests of their class.

What we do

Support

We bring class representatives together to share their learnings and experiences within their confidentiality obligations.

Engagement

We aim to enhance public understanding the role of class representatives. We engage with government, policy-makers, the legal community and interest groups.

Transparency

We help prospective class representatives and the wider public to learn more about the role and the responsibilities it entails.

Thought

We discuss new developments in the law, and invite lawyers, litigation funders and other experts to share their insights.

“As an individual you are taking on responsibility for acting on behalf of a large class of people with a very large and powerful organisation opposing you.”

— Walter Hugh Merricks CBE
